We are delighted to be opening our first taproom in Dumfries in Spring 2020. This will be located on the ground floor of an old listed building located at the bottom of Friar's Vennel, owned by the founder's family since 1958. We are creating Riverside Tap in a mixed steampunk industrial and rustic style with some added up to date technology! We will have 6-8 taps offering craft beers expertly brewed locally in Dumfries & Galloway together with other established Scottish breweries, plus a range of exciting brews from across Europe. Most beers will be on rotation, sometimes in themes such as Spanish & Portuguese, Scandinavian and Eastern European and we hope to offer authentic light meals & tapas in the national style of the beers on tap. In addition to draft craft beers, we will have artisan ciders plus selected bottled beers and ciders either to consume in the taproom or take home. Most draft beers will be served in one third or half pint glasses, or in 'flights' of three one third pints, and priced accordingly. We will do our best to keep prices reasonable, but some of the special EU beers we are importing will inevitably be more expensive than average. We will try hard to offer a broad range of prices at the taps. Please let us know your thoughts on this. We are not here to make a killing, we are keener to take pride in offering something special to the local community, but we will have to cover our costs in providing this!
We hope to host themed evenings including live music/jam sessions, jazz & blues, and your other suggestions for such evenings will be warmly welcomed.
Our opening dates will vary according to our other commitments to festivals & events and will be published online on our website and social media, and also on a sign on the taproom door.
Beer Without Borders also has 10 mobile chilled taps available for festivals, gatherings, village hall events and private bookings for parties and other occasions. In house catering is also available.
We intend to make the taproom available for private bookings including:
Work nights out
Clubs and associations
Daytime professional meetings
Delicious meals will be available by arrangement, prepared by our in house expert, Vanessa Beeson-Main
In the two floors above the Taproom we will have a hub for visiting brewers, volunteers and guests, providing meeting space, a rest area and guest accommodation.
Riverside Tap has no wish to compete with other bars and hostelries in town and we would very much like to work together in a spirit of collaboration. What we plan to offer is an alternative way to enjoy special craft beers & ciders and to make our facility available for other community events. We will be very happy to discuss your suggestions.
If you feel that you have skills or services you would like to share with us, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please give us a shout!
